A Windspire wind turbine is now up and spinning at the Hunt Country Vineyards, a family winery in Keuka Lake, New York.
The project is part of an ongoing effort at Hunt Country Vineyards’ sixth generation family farm to reduce their footprint on the land, use renewable energy and develop agriculturally and environmentally sustainable practices.
The Hunt’s installed a 1.2kW Windspire vertical wind turbine to provide clean energy to their vineyard. The turbine is a vertical design, with a rotor that is just 30-feet tall and 4-feet wide. It operates silently and is the most affordable renewable energy appliance in the 1 kilowatt range. The Windspire wind turbine will produce about 2000 kWh in 12 mph average winds.
